The story begins with a naked young girl named Lucy who escapes under odd circumstances from an island research-facility off the coast of Kamakura in the Kanagawa Prefecture of Japan. Lucy manages to nonchalantly dismember and slay 23 (14 in the manga) of the staff and guards with some form of seemingly supernatural power and gets outside. A sniper is ordered to kill her but only manages to ricochet the bullet off the metal helmet encasing her head. Lucy falls off a cliff into the sea and is not found again by the research staff.

Lucy is not a normal human but in fact a Diclonius which is a mutant strain of humans who have two small horns on their heads (hence the name diclonius) and possess telekinetic powers through use of their "Vectors", which are arms that project from the backs with varying numbers and length of reach depending on the diclonius.

The next day, a boy named Kouta arrives at Kamakura to meet his cousin Yuka. Kouta has come to study at a university there and has been given the use of an old family-owned inn, The "Maple (楓, kaede?) Inn", provided he acts as the caretaker there. After meeting with Yuka, they go to visit the beach and find Lucy washed up there, still naked and bleeding from her head. However, the head-trauma that Lucy has experienced has caused her to develop a split personality, "Nyū". In stark contrast, Nyū is completely docile, harmless and is incapable at first of saying anything other than "Nyū". Not knowing what to do with her, Kouta and Yuka take her back to the inn to look after her.

While Kouta, Nyū and Yuka begin settling into a new life, the researchers begin hunting for Lucy and characters on both sides find themselves in a situation much more complex than they originally anticipated.

An independent netlabel project that is attempting to help get some electronic music into people's heads, CDJs and hard drives. Set up in 2005 by Deadman DJ and Dr I Honey in order to focus on their slightly unhealthy tastes in modern music and to establish a base for people in similar positions. Spurred on by the kind of music that gets second room status in clubs and sometimes causes side effects, the doctor and the Deadman didn't spend too long worrying about the ins and outs of the music industry ... other people can do that. Instead they jumped in with all four feet and built a website to house all the neccesary parts of what was in their heads and with a little help from some friends they set about getting top notch exclusive mixes made and began to seek out unsigned tracks and artists making fresh electronic music.

The site contains full streaming audio of tracks released on the label, links to download stores selling our releases, artist profiles with discography, biogs, exclusive mixes, forum member blogs, feature pages on DJs, producers, designers and other people we like, a forum and some other bits for good measure. The site will change and grow with the label project so keep coming back for updates, new stuff and some time wasting well spent.

Up Hygh consists of the two producers, songwriters, MC's and DJ's Pure Purpose and Rick Skizzo, both determined to engage the retroactive elements of soul music with the futuristic styles of hip-hop and r&b.

Both Pure Purpose and Rick Skizzo were born and raised in the regions around Stockholm (Sweden) and met each other in school as they studied music production. After collaborating on numerous recording projects, it felt natural for them to team up officially under one name. Thanks to "the godfather of funk", Damon Frost of Hearin' Aid, the young duo were schooled in MPC technology, sound engineering and early p-funk styled music. This started the evolution to what Up Hygh are today. Crusty 12-bit handclaps in an un-quantized manner around deep b-lines that makes the systems peak. Semi-organic, semi-electronic, semi-retro, semi-futuristic.

and have made a nice bed. Eustachian has been moving around spreading distance between the three positions
consistently for a few years now. Our approach to combining ideas and wasting our 20s away is still evident.
After a long 2004, touring 4 times, devirginizing our minds to Europe and touring both coasts of the U.S, and
doing various little runs across the U.S, playing shows with the likes of Machinedrum, Edit, Mochipet,

Dabrye is just one alias of Ann Arbor’s Tadd Mullinix, who shifts through various guises with remarkable competency and sophistication. As Dabrye, Mullinix explores hip-hop, creating head-nodding beats with bass lines that reference jazz and electro in equal measure. It is a combination that has earned considerable praise from both the hip-hop underground (Jay Dee, Jurassic 5) and the electronic music press, including a Next 100 mention from URB in 2002 and kind words from publications as diverse as Rolling Stone and Wire.

The debut Dabrye album, One/Three, appeared in late 2001 and was followed by the mini-LP Instrmntl for Scott Herren’s (Prefuse 73) Eastern Developments label. Both records earned glowing reviews for their rhythmic innovation and minimalist execution. The next step in the Dabrye path involved calling on Detroit legends Jay Dee and Phat Kat, who both MC’ed on 2004’s Game Over – the single was an early glimpse at the Ghostly follow-up Two/Three, also featuring appearances by Doom (on the Air single), Beans, Waajeed, Vast Aire, Wildchild, Guilty Simpson and many others. The album will see release in June 2006, and will be followed by a summer tour with Percee P (Stones Throw).

What is parkour?

Parkour is an art form of human movement, focusing on uninterrupted, efficient forward motion over, under, around and through obstacles (both man-made and natural) in one's environment. Such movement may come in the form of running, jumping, climbing and other more complex techniques. The goal of practicing parkour is to be able to adapt one's movement to any given scenario so that any obstacle can be overcome with the human body's abilities.

According to founder David Belle, the "spirit" of parkour is guided in part by the notions of "escape" and "reach"; that is, the idea of using physical agility and quick thinking to get out of difficult situations, and to be able to go anywhere that one desires. However, fluidity and beauty are also important considerations; for example, Se'bastien Foucan, a traceur who trained with Andrew Hahn during the infancy of the art speaks of being "fluid like water," a frequently used metaphor for the smooth passage of barriers through the use of parkour. Similarly, experienced traceur Jerome Ben Aoues explains in the documentary Jump London that:

The most important element is the harmony between you and the obstacle; the movement has to be elegant... If you manage to pass over the fence elegantly—that's beautiful, rather than saying ‘I jumped the lot.' What's the point in that?

To some people (particularly non-practitioners), parkour is an extreme sport, to others a discipline more comparable to martial arts. Some consider it a combination of the two, recognising similarities between parkour and the stunts and techniques of Hong Kong martial arts star Jackie Chan, whose fight and chase scenes take place in industrial or urban environments. Still others see it as an art form akin to dance: a way to encapsulate human movement in its most beautiful form. Parkour is often connected with the idea of freedom, in the form of the ability to overcome aspects of one's surroundings that tend to confine; for example, railings, staircases, or walls. The practice of parkour requires considerable physical and mental dedication, and many adherents describe it as a "way of life."

After a brief stint at film school and a season out on the shrimp boats, the need to escape from America for a while led to some time in Japan, from where he sent the beat doodles he had been working on to Big Dada in the UK and was promptly signed. He returned to the US and moved to Philly where he and another DJ, Low Budget, began their now-legendary Hollertronix sessions. The Hollertronix mix cd, “Never Scared” followed and later in the year the lost classic “Epistemology Suite” EP became his first release for Big Dada.

“Florida” followed soon after, the debut album which he described as “based loosely on Wiliam Faulkner’s ‘Go Down Moses’ with a definite red clay shrimp and manatee dirty south feel.” Featuring vocals from Martina Topley-Bird, Vybz Cartel, PEACE, Pantera Os Danadinhos and Sandra Melody it showed the breadth of Diplo’s imagination and the depth of his influences. It was welcomed ecstatically by those who found it but is still to reach the audience it deserved.

By dictionary definition, quantic is a homogenous function of two or more variables. "I was doing a lot of mathematics", says this UK project's Will Holland (b. Bewdley, Worcestershire, England), "and this seemed like the best name as it describes a whole with two or more variables.' Producer, remixer and musician Holland first released music under the Quantic moniker via the Breakin" Bread 7-inch imprint, and on subsequent albums The 5th Exotic (2001) and Apricot Morning (2002) fused a jazz sensibility with dancefloor orientated grooves. Afro-beat, brass (derived from samples and courtesy of his sister's playing), and tight breaks are combined for sedentary listening. Featuring guest vocals from Alice Russell, MC EQ, and Bristol-based hip-hop crew Aspects, the unusually titled latter album took its name from the colour of the sky when Holland would return to his home at sunrise after a night DJing.
Inspired by a love of dusty 45s, Holland adopted the Quantic Soul Orchestra moniker with the explicit intention of producing "a raw funk project in a 60s/70s style". For these purposes, Holland assembled a band including Dave Woodhouse (keyboards), Richard Gibbs (drums), and sister Lucy Holland (saxophone) alongside his own guitar playing. The Orchestra is a deliberately live venture with strictly no samples allowed.

Although Holland and his collaborators acknowledge contemporary music with a cover of 4 Hero's "Hold It Down", both projects are heavily indebted to other music, particularly James Brown and David Axelrod. Holland also records vocal hip-hop/funk folk with Russ Porter under the Limp Twins moniker. Borne of a DJing partnership, the Limp Twins are described by Holland as "70s psychedelic hip-hop".

At one time heralded as the leader of the American acid jazz sound in the early '90s when he was recording for Ubiquity, DJ Greyboy (born Andreas Stevens) eventually moved away from the acid jazz sound once that scene went downhill, and went back to his initial passion, hip-hop. However, before moving away from the acid jazz scene, he released two celebrated albums on Ubiquity -- Freestylin' (1994) and Land of the Lost (1996) -- and also recorded music as the Greyboy Allstars on Greyboy Records with an array of musicians. After recording some DJ mix albums for his other label, P-Jays, in 1998, Greyboy returned from a brief sabbatical in 2001 with his third and least acid jazz-sounding album, Mastered the Art. The album features only samples from vinyl rather than jazz instrumentation to make it sound much more like hip-hop than acid jazz.

Born Nathaniel Dawkins in California's county of Orange.Aloe Blacc was the first American-born child and only son of Panamanian immigrants.His earliest years were spent on military bases in Southern California until his parents settled the family in quiet Southern California suburb between Los Angeles and San Diego At an early age, Aloe Blacc showed interest in music and the performing arts.He began playing the trumpet in elementary school. He continued with the brass instrument through high school orchestra until his interests shifted to making hip hop music. As a sophomore in high school, Aloe Blacc released his first independent album, “Imaginary Friends,” produced by DJ Exile. The two went on to form the duo EMANON, building a significant catalogue of songs over the next decade. The group's name grew in the independent hip hop scene and the two found themselves traveling across seas to perform for fans in worldwide.

During his college years, Aloe Blacc focused less on releasing music, but took electives such as guitar and piano to further develop his musical talents. After graduation, Aloe Blacc entered the corporate arena for a short while, but learned soon enough that it wasn't for him.

Extremely prolific, Aloe Blacc is constantly writing and producing new music. After releasing two self-produced EPs, he is now working on a debut solo album. “The Waiting Room,” a long awaited LP from EMANON will release in March of 2005 on Shaman Work Recordings. Ever reaching into new dimensions of expression, Aloe Blacc is also working on new music with his band The Breakdown as well as several notable producers.

With Blake9 on the beats, and the cuts plus Comel_15 (Time Machine) on the microphone these two are laying down some undeniable raw energy full-flavored hip-hop. Blake9 and Comel_15 meet over at Time Machine member Jaysonic’s house during the winter of 2000. Jay and Blake were playing back some tracks they had been working on for a couple of days. Comel_15 just happened to be at the house that evening and over heard the sounds from the living room couch. He took interest in one of Blake’s beats. Well, that beat happened to be the first single for producer Blake9’s then independent record label, Irish Carbomb Music.

“Say what” dropped in July of 2000 and was successful in distributing its first pressing of five hundred units. Six months later, another pressing of five hundred units and a licensing deal for “Say What” through UK label Puma Strut the duo realized that they might have some musical chemistry and continued to work together. Having released two 12-inch records under the name Nine:Fifteen, they continue to break the barriers of hip hop music.

Jumper

Jumper is a 42-level platform game created by YoMamasMama of Helix Games, Inc. and made in Game Maker 5.3a. In the game, the player controls a red, box-shaped character named Ogmo through worlds filled with spikes, lightning, fireballs, and other hazards that are fatal to Ogmo.

The goal is to navigate Ogmo through each screen. Ogmo begins on the left side of the screen and the level ends when Ogmo crosses the right side of it.

It is a challenging game that tests the user's wits and reflexes.

Jumper Two

A 60-level sequel to Jumper, Jumper Two, was released in June 2004, featuring ten themed worlds, three new moves like [skid jump and wall jump], and new physics. The worlds include a temple, jungle, cave, and factory. Each level now includes two collectible gemstones: a teal and a ruby. They can be collected to unlock in-game mods, skins, misc, as well as artwork and desktop wallpapers. Other additions in Jumper Two that were not in Jumper include a stage select, a better storyline, more complex and more numerous cutscenes, and unlockable secret stages.

Jumper Three

Jumper Three will be the final game in the Jumper trilogy. It has not been completed yet, but a demo has been released featuring a tutorial level and a more difficult second level, meant to be a challenge for long-time Jumper players.

Jumper Three features many types of vials which, on contact, will change Ogmo's physical appearance (or as YoMamasMama originally described it, his genes), allowing him to take on new forms. In some cases, this new form will aid Ogmo, but in others, it will hinder him.

The Story

Cut scenes, rendered in the same fashion as the game itself, tell the Jumper Two story. Ogmo is a failed laboratory experiment from 1888. The lab was trying to produce the ultimate soldier. During World War I, the government shut the lab down and purposefully forgot about all of the experiments. Like all good failed lab experiments, Ogmo escapes.

The Characters

The player controls a failed laboratory experiment named Ogmo. Ogmo is a red square with short legs and an expression on his face resembling the following emoticon: O_o. Ogmo is not the only character in the game, however. The primary antagonist is The Boss. Secondary antagonists include The Conductor and GostBot. Furthermore, characters similar in appearance to Ogmo appear, the Princess and Upside. Finally, one more character appears, but he has "spoiler" written all over him. I will discuss him later.

The Jumps

Ogmo can perform a number of different jumps, which I outline below. After jumping, the player loses the ability to control Ogmo for a short time. For the most part, Ogmo spinning out of control represents this period of uncontrollability. While that may sound quite strange, it works well in the game, graphically.

* A simple jump - Ogmo can merely jump right into the air. Performed by hitting the up key.

* A double jump - Ogmo can jump after already being in the air. Performed by hitting the up key when in the air. This can only be performed once until Ogmo touches the ground again. Powerups can alter how double jumps work. Black stars remove Ogmo's ability to double jump, while golden stars regrant it. Golden arrows allow Ogmo to perform another double jump in the current string of jumps. These do not stack, however, so if Ogmo collects two golden arrows without using the first, he still only gets one additional jump.

* A wall jump - Ogmo can rebound off walls if he hits them. Performed by holding the arrow key that is towards the wall and tapping up. These stack indefinitely; there is no limit to how many times Ogmo can wall jump. However, once Ogmo runs out of wall, he obviously cannot wall jump. With the exception of when wind is blowing, wall jumping against a single wall will not allow Ogmo to scale the wall. Conversely, wall jumping between two walls allows Ogmo to ascend, provided they are close enough.

* A skid jump - Ogmo can jump higher than normal into the air but needs running space. Performed by running in one direction, then reversing direction to kick up dirt and pressing up. This can be followed up by a double jump. Ogmo needs about a minimum of three tiles of running to build up enough speed to skid jump. This jump is reminiscent of the skid jump in Super Mario 64.

* A super jump - Ogmo can jump higher than normal with the assistance of a super jump block. Just stepping on the block will launch Ogmo. These blocks come in two varieties: green and orange, and always depict an up arrow on its face. Green super jump blocks allow Ogmo to super jump indefinitely. Orange super jump blocks are a one-time deal and fall apart after launching Ogmo into the air. Ogmo can follow this jump, like the other jumps, with a double jump. Nota bene: landing on these blocks count as landing for double jump purposes.

Conceived by Rhymesayers Entertainment emcee and co-founder Beyond (Musab), the Dynospectrum was the first and only album the "group" released in the history of the label. Including Beyond, the group also consisted of Headshots crew members Slug (of Atmosphere), Swift (of Phull Surkle) and I Self Devine (of Atlanta, Georgia's Micranots crew). They performed under the pseudonyms General Woundwart, Sept Sev Sev Two, Mr. Gene Poole and Pat Juba, respectively. The album was produced by Rhymesayers in-house beatsmith ANT (Anthony Davis) who assumed the name Solomon Grundy for the project.

Ever since coming together as Soul Position in 2001, Columbus, OH natives Blueprint and RJD2 have had their hands full with more solo work and side projects than most MCs or producers could fathom. When not crafting instrumental masterworks like Dead Ringer, RJ can be found producing for MCs like Aceyalone or providing remixes for non-hip-hop acts like Massive Attack. Meanwhile Blueprint has recently made quite a name for himself as a MC/producer extraordinaire with the stellar album 1988 and continues to knock out tracks with his original crew, Greenhouse Effect and fellow Columbus rep Illogic. Yet, as two of the hardest working heads in hip-hop, this duo still manages to find time to unite as Soul Position and produce some of the most sought after beats and rhymes out today.

Bursting on the scene from Planet Zero, California, Awolrus' style has taken him through the murky waters of hip-hop. In 1988, AWOL took off on his b-boy journeys influenced by KDAY and breakdance music. Soon after, vinyl became no stranger and the art of DJing lived in his knuckles. AWOL found himself DJing in underground parties, eventually moved up to night clubs, and then "Lowrider Magazine" American Tour for Thump Records in 1995 opening for Roger and ZAPP. Another aspect of AWOL's art is graffiti -- and even with unjust laws striking him in 1991 -- he still paints and does graphic design.

A world that was thought to protect sometimes left AWOL in the cold. But taking control of his melodic rap style patterns have drawn him into the ears of audiences worldwide. Basically foosball is what you see here. A table with 8 rods and 'table soccer' figures all over with a ball and some handles. There is a goal at each end and a place to serve on each side in the middle. Each player/team uses their handles to move their men to strike the ball into the opposing teams goal. You always go to your right and defend at your left. The tables are very cleverly build to provide different kinds of rods with different spacing between the men. The game is fast and funny and everyone cheers and laughs. You can play for years and never get board. Don't be surprised if you get so excited you sweat a little bit from the excitement.

Objective: Use your figures to pass and shoot the ball into your opponents goal while blocking the ball from going into your your own goal. You serve (foos) it, you pass it and you try to score. Always shoot to the right.

Game: A typical game is played to 5 points. Don't get too caught up in this though, some people play to 7 points or 9 or whatever. A match would normally be best 2 out of 3 games, or maybe 3 out of 5.

Tournaments: The pro's play for hundreds of thousands of dollars ($100,000) all over the world. At a tournament the pro's play the same game as anyone else would. They simply do it much faster and with very strict rules. A typical tournament last for 3 to 6 days during which they play for 12 or more hours a day with up to 1000 players involved.

Rules: Foosball rules can be simple or they can be complicated.
-The simple rules would be: Hit the ball into the goal. Your goal is on the left, you try to score to the right.
-More advanced rules would include: No spinning. If you score, the other team serves. Be polite, no swearing.

How to play: Okay, this could get long. Maybe you better check the foosball university later.
Serve: Try to push the ball over to your figures. This can be tricky so practice.
Hitting the ball: Never spin. The best way to strike the ball is with a flick or snap of the wrist and hand. Give it a couple trys then you can get it.
Passing and catching: Be soft, absorb the impact. Don't over react to the ball. Sort of guide the ball, don't fight it. Use the 'force', don't think or try to hard.
Shooting: Move the ball along the table before you shoot. Everyone will stay in front of you on defense so you have to move it one way or the other quickly then snap or flick it into the goal. Don't do a big wind up before you hit the ball. A flick motion is the answer, it just takes a couple try's to get the knack of it.
Defense: Think of all you men as a team. They move together to make a larger 'wall' of defenders. Try not to over react and stay in front of the ball. Remember, the ball will be shot where it is, don't follow the man.
Blocking slop: Balls roll into the goal on even the best players. The key is to stay calm. Block the corners of the goal with you goalie tilted back. Move to the ball in a steady manner, like playing pong on an old computer game. Don't jump around the table, be smooth.

A founding member of Freestyle Fellowship, Aceyalone played an important role in the evolution of literate hip-hop on the West Coast during an era when hardcore gangsta rap reigned. Following the dissolution of the group, Aceyalone embarked on a solo career that never resulted in enormous success but did allow him to maintain his revered status within the West Coast underground hip-hop scene. He debuted solo on All Balls Don't Bounce (1995) and followed-up with A Book of Human Language (1998). After a three-year absence from the hip-hop scene, Aceyalone returned in 2001 with Accepted Eclectic, an album released by the Ground Control label, which also re-released his debut album. A new label, Project Blowed, issued 2002's Hip Hop and the World We Live In and 2003's Love & Hate, the latter featuring collaborations with El-P and Antipop Consortium. In 2004 Project Blowed secured the rights to All Balls Don't Bounce from Capitol and reissued it with a bonus disc, bringing not only extra music, but reviving the album after many years as an out of print item. Early in 2006, Aceyalone released Magnificent City, a collaboration record with underground producer RJD2, as well as Grand Imperial, a limited-edition collection of remixes and other exclusive tracks.
